Restoration of Lissan House Commences

After applying to several funding bodies for assistance to develop the Lissan project, Lissan House Trust is delighted to announce that the Trust has secured over £1m of funding to restore Lissan House.  The funders for the restoration work include;

  • The Northern Ireland Tourist Boars (NITB)
  • South West Action For Rural Development (SWARD)
  • Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA)
  • Cookstown District Council
  • Ulster Garden Villages
  • Manifold Trust
  • Ulster Community Investment Trust
  • Lissan House Trust

After a robust tender process overseen by the Central Procurement Directorate, Draperstown based company Corramore were awarded the contract for the restoration of Lissan House

The restoration work includes re-roofing of Lissan House, replacement of all windows to the original Georgian style, re- plastering, electrical and plumbing overhaul and installation of catering facilities. As the house is a listed building all works must be carried out in keeping with its status.  A new roadway and access to the estate, car and bus parking areas, a children’s play area and installation of an interpretation facility are also part of the plan.

It is anticipated that construction work will continue until summer 2011and we are looking forward to being able to throw open the doors and welcome everyone to the estate.
