Tours and Trails!

Lissan House is brought to shimmering life through our enthusiastic guiding team. We tell the story of how the Staples family came to set up home here and how their fortunes faired through good times and bad.

You will be introduced to key players in a fascinating story which ranges over 400 years and find out about some of the larger than life characters who called this place home. Living History is a fun feature of tours on special event days.

Dog Friendly

Lissan House has been home to many dogs,  the family always had an adored dog and the estate has it’s own Pet Graveyard.

All dogs are welcome at Lissan. We ask that dogs are kept on leads due to livestock on the estate and that any poop is lifted.

Estate & Great Outdoors

Developing the estate is an ongoing task for Lissan House. We are currently working to open new paths and plant new native woodland.

. Our visitors can already explore the trails from The White Bridge to Harry’s Bridge and venture along Fanny Moonan’s Pad, past the Brick Field White Hill. The Woodland is a delight and nearby is Robert’s Oak. Our wildflower meadow and ‘no mow’ policy helps the bee and insect population that is an important part of the Lissan House Biodiversity Policy. We continue the work of protecting and creating native habitat to encourage greater biodiversity.

  • The Gardens and Estate are open between 9am and dusk free of charge 7 days a week except Christmas Day.
  • Public toilets are now available in the main car park.
  • Please see signage on Estate for exact car park closing times.
