The story of Lissan House and those who resided here is brought to shimmering life through the work of our famously enthusiastic guiding team. We tell the story of how the Staples family came to set up home here and how their fortunes faired through good times and bad.
You will be introduced to key players in a fascinating story which ranges over 400 years and find out about some of the larger than life characters who called this place home. Living History is a fun feature of tours on special event days.
House Tours are available on set days throughout the year.
Due to COVID-19 House Tours are not available in line with government guidelines.
Ponsy’s Coffee House
Lissan has always been famous for its hospitality and this tradition is kept alive in Ponsy’s Coffee House. Warm up in the cosy setting of the Dining Room with homemade soup and sandwiches or one of our Lunch Specials.
Then move through to the Library and relax in an armchair or sofa with a cup of coffee and a sweet treat.
Due to COVID-19 Ponsy’s Coffee House will remain closed in line with government guidelines.
The Paint Pot
The Coachman’s Room in the Porte Cochere was opened last year as a dog friendly Coffee Room known as The Paint Pot in honour of our famous artist Sir Robert Ponsonby Staples.
